Back to San Simeon this weekend for more elephant seal pics

The pictures I took last weekend were unplanned–I didn’t even know about the rookery at San Simeon, and we stopped on a whim as we were headed up to Big Sur.  I could think of nothing better to do this weekend than make a day trip to the rookery, going for better lighting earlier in the day and a bit more time to spend waiting for action.  I was not disappointed!  And in addition to the seal pics you see here, there were also pelicans and even a pod of dolphins playing offshore.  It was a bit too far for my zoom lens, so the quality of the pictures is sub-par, but they were having so much fun jumping around that I wanted to post a couple just to share what we saw.  Hopefully, I’ll make another trip up in time for the big winter season of fighting, mating and baby seals, but these will do for now.
